Mages are able to memorize only a limited amount of techniques to transform manna into pure energy(also known as 'casting a spell'). Therefore, ages ago, the Masters of Magic have gathered all their knowledge in special scrolls called 'Spellbooks' dividing them according to the type of energy produced by the spell. Throughout centuries some of the gestures and words needed to cast spells were forgotten or stolen and lost forever, thus, the magic today is weaker than the one known by our ancestors. The races have different magical capabilities, so the number of Spellbooks owned by them differs. The table below shows how many Spellbooks each race can posses during the start of the game.

You decide which Spellbook(s) your Kingdom should have. Therefore, it is essential for you to study the effects of each spell carefully and make the right choice. Although, changing a previously selected Spellbook is possible, the costs of this action are tremendous - you can only cast the basic spells for the number of turns equal to your Kingdom`s age (thus, not more than 40 turns). After your citizens build the Special Building : Magical Palace, you gain access to an extra Spellbook (except Genies - they have all 5 at the beginning of the game) - you can chose it in the 'Magic' menu. The table below shows which spell is placed in which Spellbook.
